The best book on this is American War Machine by Peter Dale Scott. No movie has really told the tale, probably because the same guys (social class) who own Hollywood are the guys who the CIA works for. Biggest exception is Oliver Stone's JFK.

not going to happen unless big stars sign up for little pay. it really irks me Simon produces quality series that never get good ratings. btw, how's his '70's NY crime series going? maybe Simon can try to wrangle spielberg to back him up…somehow? might wash off the bad taste of The Pacific.
