It starred Anthony Higgins as Holmes and Debrah Farentino as a doctor named Amy Winslow. It was set in then present day San Francisco and featured Holmes being awakened from a long cryogenic nap by an earthquake. Check it out if you can find it on DVD.

There have been dozens of iterations of the public domain Sherlock Holmes stories on screen. Is it the fact that SHERLOCK is set in the present day? Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce were doing that 70 years ago.

Were there really people naive enough to think that in the wake of the successful Guy Ritchie films (and the British series), there wouldn't be a "hip" new American incarnation. I'm frankly surprised that there aren't several.
