For the first half of 2009 he appeared onstage in London\’s West End in \”Three Days of Rain\”–and was nominated for an Olivier for his performance. Really like the list and you are spot on with a number of these guys. Missed though Joseph Gorden Levitt!

A few others to look up and keep an eye out for are Sam Claflin, Jonathan Villalpando, Sam Riley, and as mentioned above Jack Huston. Keep an eye out on all of them… could be hearing of them next year….

You\’re right about McAvoy and the Mountains of Madness – he was Universal\’s first choice.

And to clarify, these aren\’t our picks of young talent — they\’re the names who are being attached to everything. People like Garfield, Franco and Gordon-Levitt are all wonderful actors, but they don\’t have the same attached-to-everything factor that these guys do, partly because they\’re more picky.

Same for the likes of Huston and Riley — a year from now, possibly, but they\’re not going to be on the wish-list for something like Safe House at this point.

All right, now I\’m totally confused. The last report I read, McAvoy was not yet attached to \’Cloud Atlas\’ (offered but not yet attached) and del Toro wanted Cruise but the studio wanted McAvoy for \’At the Mountains of Madness.\’ ???

I hope Armie Hammer\’s name becomes part of this \” go-to-guys\” list. Hammer was astonishing in \”The Social Network\”. He gave one of my favorite performances of the year. Armie has the looks, charm, screen presence, sex appeal, and immense acting talent.

I\’m just surprised Jim Sturgess\’s name isn’t in the article.He can act,he can sing.He is tall,dark and handsome and very likable(and really nice person).He has a charm of \”boy next door\”,everyman quality,but I\’m sure he could also play charismatic character easily,if he want.I couldn’t ask more for leading man.

After success of \”21\”,he rather took lead roles in indie films for a while,so he doesn’t break yet,but it is quite certain,he will be going to have great career ahead of him.But I just wish The Playlist recognizes him at this moment.

James McAvoy is the strongest acting talent, not Fassbender. Fassbender has yet to show the range McAvoy showed in so many different roles and films. Plus, Centurion? Jonah Hex? McAvoy has never worked in such terrible movies – Wanted was an amazing, smart film, despite of what you think about it.
