Yeah thats what I'm saying exactly, that it's a question of style. He used to be an auteur in the classic sense of the word, now it feels like he's just working in his own already established style and not experimenting really. Again I hope this movie proves me wrong. Trash Humpers definietly falls into the second category but it at least gave some memorable images.

I don't know why exactly but I feel like he really went from making some of the most original, interesting work to just doing predictable Vice magazine junk. I'm thinking the difference between Gummo, Julien Donkey- Boy, the No More Workhorse Blues video, stuff like that, and these fashion commercial short films that he's been doing lately, and the Die Antwoord thing too I thought was horrible. I hope I'm wrong and this movie is awesome but as a long time fan I gotta say I feel like the dude is slipping (and btw I take no issue with the bigger more mainstream movie thing either, I think that's great, I'm just saying that the re cent stuff hasn't been as good in my eyes)
