To me it sounds like he’s taking a jab at the tone Trank chose in the first place. The original version was apparently too dark and violent, even though it sounded “cerebrally ambitious”, when they saw it they panicked and cut a lot out.

Once again, it’s Kinberg accusing the audience of not understanding his generally uninspired vision. He’s still giving that pile of trash undue credit.

No, he’s not…

He’s saying his version, the one we got, was cerebrally ambitious.

Agreed, why hire this director with a certain track record,and then make him change the essence of what he initially pitched?

He’s talking about the version we didn’t see.

Fox having “big plans” for it thus far has consisted of a wait and see approach as to how much money they flushed down the toilet on it, take note of the total losses and then drop the axe on the sequel that I’m sure Kinberg will keep clinging onto as something that’s still gonna happen, despite everyone involved with it that mattered wanting to distance themselves away from the smoking crater it left at the box office.
