He's just terrible at it. He misses so many opportunities for great questions because he's more concerned with getting to the next topic on his list, or making a bad joke. He doesn't even seem all that knowledgeable, really. I don't know if he's just starstruck or nervous in front of the audience, but I can't help but think about how much better it could be.
