Hollywood may not be listening, either that or they care more about making a successful movie, either critically or commercially, than pandering to SJW’s by hiring black people just because of the subject.

I’m sorry, when he wrote the script was he stopping someone else of color from writing a script about this event and then proceeding to direct it? 5 seconds ago you probably knew NOTHING about this manhunt, you just hear the name MLK and get thoughtlessly triggered into thinking semone with the same skin color as MLK would clearly do a better job. Now you’re suddenly an expert on who best can fulfill this vision? Not the one who sat down to write it and undoubtedly do all the research and get passionate about it. No he should be removed because a cursory glance at his skin color is good enough to suggest that he has no diverse take on the story. Get fired.

In reply to Anonymous. Although that's a perfectly good point we shouldn't even be HAVING this discussion it's so ridiculous in the first place to assign directing gigs based on skin color and to cry foul as much as possible.

The problem isn’t when white people direct movies about people of color. The problem is when that’s the ONLY way it happens. As long as black directors, male or female, are in the mix then we can have unbiased movies. But I see no reason why F. Gary Gray shouldn’t direct a sequel to Steel Magnolias, or Scott Cooper direct an MLK movie.

So, if the plot is about mostly white (male) investigators searching for a white (male) suspect, how is the the narrative not being presented by the appropriate party, in this case a white man?
