According to papers filed by Emma Thompson’s producer in February, \”Effie\” cannot move forward until the court has made a declaratory judgment stating there has been no copyright infringement by the screenplay \”Effie\” with my play and screenplay \”The Countess.\” This case is not yet on the court calendar. Under the circumstances, Emma Thompson’s producer’s assertion that \”Effie\” is to begin filming in October is baffling to say the least.
