I'm not saying it costs that much to market. I'm just speculating and i rounded up, but the LA times did say that paramount spent about $50 mill to promote Ben Button and with something like a comic book movie, i bet you go even bigger because it has a potentially huge reach.

but again, speculation on my part admittedly.

I read somewhere a couple times before that studios get anywhere from 50-60% plus or minus (depending on the movie/release) of the gross box office revenue (the rest going to the theatres). So that would make the $590 mil earning movie break even for the theatrical run if it cost $290 mil and then surely profit a bit more than that on the dvd side.
But like "Second Single" said, who knows exactly how the profits work.
And will Sam Jackson really be missed as Nick Fury? After "The Spirit" and some other un-exciting roles?
I didn't know it cost $150 million to market these enormous blockbusters. Wow.

Sounds like he might have said that sarcastically, but who knows with the way the profits work on these things.
