"Oz The Great And Powerful," of all things", + "But, 'Oz,' a film that received middling to OK reviews at best â we called it pretty to look at but otherwise dull â looks like it will be the first legitimate blockbuster of 2013 (and Disney is super relieved considering they spent upwards of $300 million on the film).", it must be choking the critics who particularly had an AGENDA and went on the attack regarding James Franco (MOVIE STAR) plus this AWESOME movie in general that its started off so well at the box office, long may it continue.

" 'Oz' still looks terrible to those of us who haven't seen it (this writer)", got to love your OPEN-MINDEDNESS, and he calls himself a critic.

"apparently ok reviews are better than completely tepid ones.", some audience member's, it's not just ok but excellent. Oh plus, it didn't STOP, Alice in Wonderland, Twilight franchise, Transformers franchise, and Pirates of the Caribbean franchise all making money.

Anyway, glad the general public is not listening to the critics and going out to experience this brilliant movie for themselves. It's not Wizard of Oz, because it has his own identity but just nods to the classic 1939. Franco was an amazing Oz, and everyone did great.

Hopefully, Sam Raimi will change his mind at some point in the future, because he was masterful as a Director of this movie and make the sequel too.

âOz the Great and Powerfulâ is all smoke and no mirrors, no fantasy, just effects without affect. To be honest, more like Oz the Amiable and Un-threatening. The best, funniest Oz thing I've read lately is DA YELLER BRICK ROAD, a revisionist telling of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Uncle Remus. The conceit is it was originally by Remus (who didn't exist) and then "borrowed and cleaned-up" by Baum. Hilarious and charming. All that "Oz the Great and Powerful" is not.

The direction is pretty much the best thing about the movie, it certainly wasn't the script. Still FAR better than the similar Alice in Wonderland though.

Definitely seemed like one of those "one for them, so I can make one for me" kind of efforts, so I'm not surprised he doesn't plan to churn out another.

It was horribly written and Mila Kunis is very poorly cast, but it was sorta nice to look at (cough Rachel Weisz).
