Got a Tip?

Sam Raimi Heads To The Bermuda Triangle

Sam Raimi is in no big rush to make his next movie, though he’s certainly been stacking up quite a few options. Perhaps the most high profile is a Hollywood redo of Jacques Audiard‘s intense “A Prophet,” while on the blockbuster front he’s taken a look at “World War 3” and the tornado heist movie “Stormfall.” Well, Raimi is putting another big project into the mix.

THR reports that the director has signed up to helm one of the three Bermuda Triangle projects at Skydance, and apparently the setting is a popular one, with Universal and Warner Bros. also brewing their own projects. Naturally, everyone is keeping their versions secret, but what we do know about Raimi’s movie is that it’ll be penned by Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard (“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time“).

It all sounds appropriately blockbuster-y, but like everything else Raimi is signed up to do, we’ll see if it comes to pass. He’s certainly being choosy, but perhaps that’s understandable given his last effort was “Oz The Great And Powerful.” And perhaps he doesn’t want to step into an arena that has already seen a handful of forgettable movies already made about the mysterious ocean phenomenon, including 1978’s “The Bermuda Triangle,” which you can watch below.
