As for World of Warcraft, they took so long with the development and script-by-committee that the momentum of the game cooled and took the film down with it. If the film had come out maybe 2-3 years ago, they might have been able to make a serious franchise out of it. But the game&#x27;s cachet has worn off. WoW&#x27;s subscriber numbers might still be the envy of the MMO industry, but they&#x27;re not enough to help bankroll a $200-300 million dollar fantasy film. &#x27;John Carter&#x27;s&#x27; failure has made studios leery of getting behind an untested IP&#x27;s prospects in the marketplace. Not to mention that films based on videogames have, so far, had a pretty poor track record.]]></description>
