I still want to see it. I loved Blue Valentine. So I will see this.
But he\’s building it up too much.
If Brett Ratner said he\’s making an epic film like The Godfather, would you believe it? I know I wouldn\’t. But if someone like PTA said that, I wouldn\’t doubt it.
All I\’m saying is he\’s hyping it too much.

Sam, that\’s a bit much… you\’re almost as hyperbolic as Cianfrance. However, you\’re right, the script doesn\’t center on Gosling or anyone else. It\’s kind of a mess.

BLUE VALENTINE was a little miracle. That script was pretty weak as well, but the actors & directors turned it into something riveting.

Cianfrance may be right on the money when comparing himself to Cimino. (one great one and OUT).

Re THE GODFATHER: Ridiculous.

Who would compare (or mention that people had compared) their own script to The Godfather or Deer Hunter? Man, that\’s some chutzpah – you could say you\’re aiming for it or that it\’s likely to be epic in nature buy sheesh… cool ideas though so hey, maybe he\’ll pull it off.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I read this script and it is SO far from epic. I\’m shocked it\’s even being made. First of all, it doesn\’t center on Gosling\’s character, he\’s more the catalyst. Second of all, the story is riddled with cliches and at times laughable. Comparing it to The Deerhunter and The Godfather is embarrassing.
