You are wrong, however, that Crowe wouldn’t take supporting roles. While American Gangster and 3:10 to Yuma are more co-leads, which shows he’s willing to share ‘star space’, Crowe’s role as Leonardo diCaprio’s CIA boss in next month’s Body of Lies is definitely a supporting role.

Interestingly, the Crowe as Watson rumor apparently started with Ritchie himself. Moviehole reported that Ritchie expressed interest in Crowe as Watson during a UK TV interview a few days ago. Anyone watching that could have contacted The Sun, which of course created their own spin on the story.
