I love the deep serious thought provoking and political storylines theyre creating with DC! Marvel movies never show the thoughts of the population of having gods living among them. It seems they brush it off as well that\’s the new norm. No their would be huge implications to the population and leaders of governments if this was true. Some would create a religion around them be for them or reject them. World powers would fear their power would be in jeopardy if one man had the power to destroy them if he wanted. Listen I love Marvel movies with their talking raccoons and a masturbating Deadpool. It\’s fun but I want to see a newer darker tone to super hero movies. Funny nobody thought Dark Knight trilogy was bad with its serious tone but now it\’s in a DC universe franchise the critics want to rip it apart. I think WB is making a mistake if they make them happy slapstick fun like Marvel.

Don\’t understand why critics lapped up the overwrought seriousness of Christopher Nolan\’s Bat flicks, and now with DAWN OF JUSTICE, a film which at least has some cinematic panache and visual imagination, serious is bad all of a sudden. There\’s more fun in DAWN OF JUSTICE\’s Wonder Woman theme than in the whole of THE DARK KNIGHT. Do people really want the superhero genre to the follow Marvel\’s formula of lit for TV sitcoms for the next ten years?

The comic book movie with the Joker needs more jokes. Okay. That\’s weird. Were the jokes considered too dark? Because that\’s what I\’d want. I don\’t want to see Avengers level buddy buddy goofiness with a band of crazy people carrying bombs in their skulls. Let\’s "lighten up" a story involving a cannibalistic mutant, a pyro gangster, a woman whose sword steals people\’s souls, a quirky abuse victim in love with her abuser, and a sociopathic Viola Davis…as the good guys! Dawn of Justice sucked because it sucked. The Dark Knight took itself way too seriously, too, but it\’s arguably a far better film for some reason. Ugh. This all just sounds like bad ideas gone haywire.

A dark and serious tone can work with a well-executed plot and storyline and when close attention is given to the characters. "Dawn of Justice" isn\’t resonating with critics because it was horribly made. A badly made film with no humor is much harder to forgive than a bad movie that at least made you laugh a few times.

The reason that a serious tone works better with Batman is that he\’s a (relatively) dark character. Meanwhile DC Comics has characters named "SUPER"man and "WONDER" woman — these are not exactly sophisticated characters, folks. They\’re cartoons. They\’re primal. They\’re for kids. It\’s inherent in their makeup that fun & energetic stories will suit them best, because that\’s what they were designed for. It doesn\’t mean you can\’t bend them a bit and put them in serious stories, but you better work real hard and be very careful about how you do that, because any dissonance between the colorful/fun/primal nature of the characters and a grim/dark/\’adult\’ presentation of them is gonna come off as pompous. Nolan is an incredibly intelligent & thoughtful filmmaker, and he could pull it off. Zack Snyder? Maybe not so much.

David Ayer was the wrong choice if you think he was writing and directing DeadPool-style humor. This does show how WB is knee-jerk reacting to the BvS reviews, the "slightly" disappointing box office results, and the number one reason is the dark-twisted-humor based DeadPool is about to become the largest Marvel movie (~$2M more and it tops X-DoFP). I sure hope reshoots do not screw up the movie\’s flow, I would rather have David Ayer original script/shoot than a choppy/mashup… fingers-crossed 😉
