Okay, so we know “The Hateful Eight” teaser trailer this weekend will amount to a series of titles, but that’s only a minor distraction from the fact that Quentin Tarantino is moving full steam ahead on his western, which is already being advertised for release in 2015. Which means a cast has to be put together, and while many assume the roster of names who participated in the live read in April would be the ensemble for the movie, that might not be the case.
Collider reports that Jennifer Lawrence is in talks to join the movie. As far as we know, there’s only one woman among of the titular Hateful Eight group —Daisy Domergue (read by Amber Tamblyn this past spring)— so we’d presume she’s being sought for that part. And there’s Six Horse Judy (read by Zoe Bell), but we’d guess the part is too small for an actor of Lawrence’s calibre. But there are a few caveats to this even happening.
First, Lawrence is also attached to David O. Russell‘s “Joy,” which is already set for a Christmas Day release in 2015 and also from The Weinstein Company. Since Tarantino’s film is also coming next year, we would imagine production on each might overlap. And she’s also got “X-Men: Apocalypse” on her slate, though that fil, probably won’t shoot until mid-2015 at the earliest for a 2016 release. Note that the trades are already reporting that this news is incorrect and more names are in the mix (see below).
In short, nothing is confirmed yet so don’t soil yourself.
