Sure they are. Just like Sony was going to move forward with Sinister Six, etc. after TASM 2 underwhelmed. Fox is just posturing. Also, I love how people say FF is too valuable for Fox to let go. It\’s not very valuable. The previous 2 films did ok at the box office….this one flopped. It\’s not like they are sitting on Harry Potter or The Hunger Games here. Marvel could do a good job with FF but this property doesn\’t sell itself.

I think what would annoy me most about this if they did go forward with another movie is how notorious Fox is for canceling TV shows at the drop of a hat like Firefly and Family Guy (although they did bring Family Guy back, but that\’s beside the point). This movie bombs big time but they still want a sequel? Meh…bring back Firefly to TV.

Backing out now would be admitting defeat and showing weakness despite the positive PR rushes/etc. that they pumped into this thing. I wouldn\’t be too surprised if they wait until the debris clears and then find a way to get out of going ahead with it (assuming they still do at all).

I read the quote at HitFix. Sounds like they\’re just BS\’ing to be honest. They are not exactly a lightning rod for exclusives.
