I think it would be better to have the (ghost) voice of Palpatine in episode 8 or 9 or both 8 & 9. And if they do that they should expand it further with siths and jedis throughout star wars history. So you'd have your Darth Plagueis and Bane in the mix too, as well as Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan and Yoda on the jedi side. If they're going to expand the star wars universe, it would make sense to introduce the history of both sides. The only problem I could see with it is the ghost of Obi-Wan. AG died in 2000, so he would have to somehow have a good reason to look his younger self in ghost form, which could be tricky.
