Wonder Woman was an average film, at best. It got extra points from critics simply because they were too afraid of the backlash if they went too hard on it (didn’t want to be labeled as “sexist”).

It was pretty boring overall, but more watchable than Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad. Gal Gadot is not particularly entertaining or charismatic though. And Wonder Woman, as a character, is pretty bland. She has the same issue as Superman in that regard. I’d have said that Captain America has the same problem too, but Marvel has managed to fix that issue with Cap for the MCU films.

In any case, this notion of attempting to build the entire DC cinematic universe around Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman is a recipe for disaster. Marvel didn’t even go that far with Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, and no matter how you slice it, RDJ is way more entertaining and charismatic that Gal Gadot will ever be.

Bottom line is that DC and Warner Bros fucked up from the beginning. They’ve been playing catch-up the whole time, focusing on doing what Marvel has done while not paying close enough attention to what’s actually going on in their own house. The results are as we’ve seen.

Wow, I thought I was the only person that thought Warcraft was a decent, fun film that got too harsh reviews as well. So you’re saying you haven’t seen JL? Yet your trashing it? Good idea. I haven’t seen Thor 3, hence is sucks. That’s fair to say if we are playing by your rules. Difference of taste I guess, just like you said.

Alright, this sounds like the basis for a serious discussion, so i’ll bite.

You say the people who dislike JL all love Avengers. That is quite possible, and I would argue that it is likely to be the case. It’s very hard to imagine someone liking both Avengers and BvS, since they are so different in almost every way imaginable.
That still makes the people “ordinary” though. Just people with a different taste than you. I love the first Avengers film and I am i no way extraordinary, quite the oppsite. I am very ordinary. But my tastes are different than yours.

Marvel movies are all the same? Yeah, I’ll give you that, to a degree. But people seem to like it, as witnessed by their success at the box office.

If reviewers hated Avengers, would I still say it was great?
I think so. I have no problem with saying that I found ‘Warcraft’ to be surprisingly good. I have absolutely no idea why it was so reviled by the reviewers. It was a very good fantasy film. I also quite enjoyed the first ‘Taken’. I watched it on DVD and immediately watched it again. Twice in row. It was that good. And that wasn’t beloved by the critics either.

Does constant negativity influence popular opinion or people’s decisions when buying tickets? Maybe a little bit. But the transformers franchise is evidence that it doesn’t. That was still making serious bank until the latest one, even though everyone and his mother hated them.

So in essence, we all have different tastes, and we might be influenced by critics ratings. But it goes both ways.
I watched BvS (against my better judgement), and I vowed to never do that to myself again. I was done with Zack Snyder. JL’s low RT score made me keep that promise to myself.
But, had the RT score been 77%, I might have changed my mind and gone to the movies this weekend.

The thing is, sometimes there are constant negativity in the media for a reason. And with bvS I agreed with that negativity. It was horrible. And that kept me away from JL. Just like constant praise might have made me go see it.

I am willing to bet that most of those “ordinary” people that say that Justice League is bad are also huge Avengers fans. Marvel hasn’t made a good film since Captain America 2. It’s the same wash, rinse, repeat bullshit. The hero is never in any danger. When they get their powers they’re perfectly heroic at being heroic. The only 1 that ever had growing pains at learning how to be a hero was iron Man, in iron Man 1, one of the few good marvel films. Now tell me, if all the reviews said Avengers sucked donkey balls, do you think these “ordinary” people would be saying it is the greatest superhero movie of all time? I doubt it. You can’t deny that constant negativity from the media doesn’t affect the general audience. That’s my whole point. The reviews are too harsh, the movie isn’t nearly as bad as people say it is. And it does affect the general populous.

They care because their films are making less and less, while other franchises are making more and more. That’s the main issue.

You do know that WB owns quite a big part of Rotten Tomatoes, right? The only possible conspiracy is WB using their power over RT to delay the low score…

Critics aren’t the only ones saying the film is bad. Plenty of ordinary people saying the same thing.

Are they biased as well? Because then I think it important to note that what you call bias, is in actuality just a difference in taste.

Is Wonder Woman a really good movie? I loved it, but it’s not really a “really good” movie. The 3rd act is very weak. Let’s be honest with ourselves, there’s no way the movie would have gotten the negative reviews that BvS and JL got simply because of feminism. With Jenkins directing the first female superhero movie, there’s just no way it would have been unjustly raked over the coals like the other DC movies. These reviewers are sheep too, because another DC movie that got rave reviews were Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises, which is absolute dog crap. You don’t think reviewers live in an echo chamber? You’re delusional.

So what? Stop comparing with Marvel, especially when it’s trying to be Marvel that screwed up their films.

I like DC movie’s just as Much I like movies.marvel is like the iPhone of movies same shit over and over with minor upgrades,marvel knows just like Apple no matter what people will buy their products even if is the same shit they already have
