I was in attendance at the Gala last night as well. "Melancholia" did NOT earn NBR's Best Picture Award, "Hugo" did. Rosie O'Donnell was actually taking a jab at the New York Film Critic's Circle who named "Melancholia" the top film of 2011. Her line about the lack of gift bags was intended to mock the table centerpieces that were made of free swag from various movies, although everything she said was tongue in cheek and hilarious. Like Ricky Gervais, she is a comedian, so please do not take her speech as a "tirade", it was pure comedy.

"I don't know where that country is"? I see people use this as an "insult" before and I really don't understand how it's an insult, especially considering Denmark isn't an obscure country. I would think saying that would make the insulter sound stupider than the person they're trying to insult.

It's too bad Carnage didn't win anything. She would've really flipped out then. Why the hell should be at an event like this in the first place? What a bitch.
