I recommend that Will Smith not take this role in ID4. The fact that both Emmerich and Tarantino have taken to making passive-aggressive comments to media about Will Smith's lack of participation in their projects reveals a lack of trustworthiness and discretion and respect for Smith. A continuance of the Independence Day saga would have to somehow differentiate itself from Battle: Los Angeles and Fallen Skies which seem to have filled in the 18-year alien invasion gap. I don't believe this is possible. Emmerich's attempt to intimidate Smith into coming to heel is a power trip and head game of the sort Smith has worked and fought too hard to tolerate. I hope Smith instead chooses to continue productions with Overbrook and provide jobs and opportunities for other Black actors and actresses in futuristic science fiction.
