As far as I know, humans will be involved.

Whether or not any of the original cast members will return remains to be seen, although, the magical lifespan of animated characters would mean that they seemingly never age, so the movie could be set in any time period, really…

And will the sequel be filmed in the same way as the first film, with the mix of real live action and cel animation, or will the \”humans\” be played by that creepy and sickening performance capture that Zemeckis is so enamored with?
