Robert Pattinson's worldwide fanbase is much bigger than only the Twi fans. Most of them have already read Cosmopolis and are eagerly waiting how David Cronenberg is going to adapt it on screen.
Wether you like Rob or not, it is a fact that he's very well cast as Eric Packer and he will do this character justice. Many of his 'haters' will continue to say his acting sucks even when David or Paul G. praise his acting shops (among many other directors and co-workers) . It will take some time before these narrow-minded spirits are willing to separate him from the Twilight phenomenom and take him for the actor he is, not for the vampire he brought to life. Last thing: if Rob, with the material he got to work with, could make the iconic Edward Cullen the most beloved movie character since Jack Dawson in Titanic, he'll surely be able to show Eric Packer convincingly in the different stages of his downfall.

Hmm I don't have an opinion about Pattinson either way but to say he was cast simply to "create enormous internet buzz around a difficult literary adaptation" is really uncalled for. Maybe Cronenberg thought he had some talent. Crazy idea, I know.

Two fans sites set up early this year dedicated to the film (one site referenced above)– shows she's right. A second blog site, cosmopolis-film.com has a four part series on DeLillo, entitled "What's the Deal with DeLillo," with more to come on the backgrounds of the author, the director and the cast. Literature and film lovers alike are excited at the prospect of Cronenberg and Pattinson interpreting DeLillo's prose for the screen. Cronenberg knows how to cast for his films. Pattinson's swiftly moving beyond Twilight.
