It’s been a half decade since “Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows,” and while no one is exactly clamoring for a sequel, Robert Downey Jr. is still a mega-franchise star thanks to Marvel, so I’m sure someone at Warner Bros. wants a third movie to happen. But thus far it’s been a lot of a talk and little action, with producer Lionel Wigram saying last year they were still figuring out the script, and trying to nail down a story that would work. But it seems some progress has been made since then.
“If we could shoot it on Skype, we could have the whole [movie] done in a week,” the actor quipped. “When we’re making those ‘Sherlock’ movies it is off the hook. [So] we’ll attempt to make one this year. It really is a big deal to go and do those movies. I’m tired all the time, but I’m so excited about it.”
All this to say that the caveat is scheduling, and with RDJ recently signing up for “Spider-Man: Homecoming“ some more of his calendar has been eaten up. But the movie is still on the table — we’ll just see if everyone can finally RSVP and make it happen in 2016.
