Incompetent in ways I take for granted in regular bad movies.

Devils Rejects: A half step up. Not anywhere approaching good. But less bad by a margin.

Halloween: Awful. Completely ill-conceived. For a guy who positions himself as someone who "gets it" with horror movies, he really doesn't. He knows how to ruin a classic just like any other hack.

I think that's three strikes unfortunately. :/
