Except Marvel owns/controls every aspect of the Marvel superhero universe. That’s not the case with Fox and the Alien franchise.

Right. Marvel has proven you can crank a movie out every year,there’s no reason to take forever. It’s like the Indiana Jones movies,no one wants one without Harrison Ford. They are eventually going to get too old for action movies,it’s not like the are fit as Stalone or Arnold at that age.

Yes her full face,that is what I mean by full CGI. Logan was done differently as it was still his face but instead of real make-up to make him look old it was digital make-up,only the stunt scenes used the standard mo-cap to replace his face.

Scott has been cranking these out 5 years apart. At that place, Sigourney Weaver will be 78 by the time they circle back to the Ripley storyline. Turning a 78 year old into a fighting weight 36 year old in an ACTION movie is going to take more than a digital facelift. It’s going to require someone else to do the physical performance (even the fittest 78 year old doesn’t move like a 36 year old) and digitally stitch on a de-aged Weaver face. Then they are going to need to address the voice, which ages just like a body. At this point, how much of Sigourney Weaver’s performance is even left after the effects people have finished with their digital shenanigans?

Add to this the fact that Scott will be 90, and directing the whole enterprise from a walker, in Depends, using a hearing aid, and this proposition sounds completely ridiculous.

They should just let Neill Blomkamp do his Ripley storyline and alternate the releases with the Scott “Prometheus” storyline, joining the two with some big finale reveal on the last picture. Such a strategy would provide Fox with an “Alien” entry every two years, instead of the glacial, 2 installments per decade that they are currently working at.

In any case, if they are going to turn this into a relevant, growing enterprise, they need to pick up the pace.

Leia wasn’t full CGI…..an actress played the role in the movie and they used CGI to superimpose Fisher’s face over the face of the actress, like what is done with motion capture.

Already done as the videogame Alien: Isolation, although not with Weaver playing her. Better story than any of the post-Aliens movies, so your instincts are right.
