Scott was not only effectively working in the industry (proper industry; not the equivalent of doing youtube shit) since his 20s, but most importantly he had already been a filmmaker since his early 30s – doing commercials. When he was 40 he simply tried his hand at a different format. He’s not the best example of “it’s never too late to become a filmmaker” guys.
