You need to see Before Sunset & Tape.

This same thing happened to him after he directed the ill-advised Newtown Boys. He tried to direct the adaptation of Friday Night Lights and couldn't get any interest. Then he came back with Waking Life & Tape, which raised his profile so he could make School of Rock. I'm hoping he goes back and makes a few independent films. I can't see Linklater fading away. I hope he doesn't, at least.
