He is still angry, in fact, he's borderline unbearable. I'm actually looking forward to his death, as awful as that sounds. The movie simply does not allow the audience to care very much about the characters at all. It moves at an almost frantic pace. Thorin and Bilbo are dealing with similar issues that they dealt with in the first movie…even after Bilbo saved him.

I also don't think it's Richard Armitage's fault at all. The writing is weak. The story is very straight forward and the plot doesn't allow Richard to really do Thorin justice. I think he does a good job of conveying a very intense, revenge driven, Dwarf….but that's really all he has to work with.
