If you have to take any of Spike Lee\'s work out of the argument, doesn\'t that fight against your point?

Spike Lee\'s documentary work AKA contribution to society is exactly what makes him more valuable than Perry.

Tyler Perry is a exploitative, pandering hack. Lee is an intelligent, motivated filmmaker with respectable credits and perhaps more than a few missteps.

\"Tyler Perry takes a stand against Spike Lee\'s criticisms\" would have been a much better headline than the erroneous, gossip column worthy \"Tyler Perry starts fight with real filmmaker.\" I think those criticisms were more about integrity than objectivism.

Also, Spike Lee is \"worth\" around 40 million dollars or so. Is there really a difference between him and Tyler Perry anymore?

With the exception of Spike Lee\'s documentary work, they\'ve both been making shitty movies for the last few years.
