I did not like “Welcome to Pine Hill’s” ending AT ALL. It\'s one thing for the film to be deemed \'intimate\'; allowing audiences to \'project their thoughts and emotions on’, but I felt as though I needed to also \'project\' an appropriate ending. I am not asking to be \'spoon-fed\' as the above author would imply, but nor should I have to write an ending. I want to know what happened next? How long before Shannon dies? Does he eventually break down and tell his mom and friends about his stomach cancer? Was the \'back to nature\' ending we viewed, the last we see of Shannon? Does he commit suicide? If he commits suicide, how does he do it? (I didn’t see him packing a gun, or pills, for the forest trek). Did he not have any girlfriends in his past? I noticed he started crying when a character was stating that people need to ‘leave a piece of themselves’ to show they existed. Be it a child, or performing good deeds – something must be left as proof we existed. Bottom line - if I write a review and my unanswered questions fill more space than my movie observations… Well, then… the movie is too open-ended to be deemed worthy of my dollars. Anyone who knows me, knows I need my questions answeredall the holes to be filled. It is not considered entertainment if the audience is left hanging after viewing a movie.
