I liked the first book very much.. but the sequels not so much.. first book is really dark and there's a little bit of everything but the next books are simply romance, drama and stuff like that! it gets a little boring to be honest…. I'm not a huge fan but I probably will catch this film.

Good review. Never read the books, but this is looking like it avoids the lame tweenification effect of 'Twilight' and actually delivers a thrilling, dramatic story. I like Jennifer Lawrence, too. Gonna check it out.

I BET YOU the frenetic camera thing was a way around getting an R rating. (Shaky camera = couldn't see knife/blood/whatever + "stylistic choice to convey frantic energy of moment")

I'm just thrilled with all the praise for Jennifer Lawrence. She's attractive and she can act. She isn't hampered by mannerisms, she doesn't blink like a hummingbird, breathe through her mouth and she has more than one pained expression. Honestly, some actresses have been coasting along for years, giving dreadful performances and still getting good (if undeserved) reviews, especially playing lame characters. Jennifer and Katniss both deserve respect and I'm glad to see them getting it. Finally a girl young girls can look up to.

I have not read the books because the subject matter does not interest me. Teenagers fighting to the death in our future for entertainment? I do not get the appeal, especially when you consider that we have real teenagers losing their lives in current wars.

Sorry, i just don't get the hype about The Hunger Games nonsense no matter how good the reviews have been for the film. It doesn't really do anything for me. Surely i can't be the only one out there who feels this way?

Such well written books. Maybe Hollywood can adapt Chaos Walking next. Great YA stuff out there.

Glad to hear this is more in the vein of the Harry Potter adaptations (from Azkaban and onwards the films were spectacular) and less Twilight-crap.
