i mostly agree with this, and knew exactly what I was getting into with a Spielberg/Hanks film. I\'m 41, and was not at all surprised to walk into the theater and see mostly senior citizens waiting for the film. That said, I\'m not sure I totally agree with the \'perfect bow\' comment. I found myself struggling with Rylance\'s character. Certainly a decent exterior, and not a violent man. But he was found to be responsible for spying and causing harm to Americans. While I do agree that we should treat people humanely, no matter what, I found it tough to think that Donovan would keep pushing so hard when it was clearly a threat to his family. I say \'struggle\' because, yes, in theory I agree with his idealism. But when that idealism results in bullets whizzing by my daughters\' head, would I be so resolved. I only bring this up to say that while this is in some ways a slight, A to B story, it\'s not without it\'s moral struggle and Donovan could be seen as a little hard headed and not simply morally perfect.
