The violence isn\'t mysterious or hard to understand. Sociologists describe human/social violence in very certain terms. When you have people chained to a hierarchical system that requires them to submit themselves daily to an excessive amount of humiliation and loss of personal agency it builds up. French sociologists called it "ressentiment" and framed it in terms of the revolution. Eventually, people just blow a fuse unless there are enough pacificatory outlets for venting relatively harmlessly. You combine the structural humiliations with individuals trained to kill without qualms, offered insufficient support for social reintegration and youre just asking for it....just like the reporter said.

So glad this series is reaching a wider audience, although I wish Netflix wouldn\'t put it under their \'Originals\' banner: it was made by Channel 4 and Warp films here in the UK, Netflix didn\'t have a hand in it. Anyway, a fantastic series that is still with me over a year after first watching it.

The cast is incredible, but for me the amazing Sean Harris is the standout. Never less than mesmerising in anything he is in (if you\'re new to his work check out the Red Riding Trilogy, Saxon, A Lonely Place to Die, his scene in Harry Brown, and the short films True Love (Once Removed) and Native Son), he manages to bring so much to the character of Stephen with very little dialogue. Truly he is one of the finest actors in the world, I\'m so glad he\'s getting more exposure with the upcoming Macbeth and MI:5 amongst others.
