Another odd thing about TBR: Several of the scenes of Nicki and her family (Leslie Mann, et al.) are shot-for-shot remakes of moments in a reality show focused on the real-life "Nicki" character called "Pretty Wild". That aside, I appreciated the film more than KJ did. Coppola's manner of blending a cultural zeitgeist exposé and classical crime capper manages to aestheticize of the tensions of youth very well, while her prior films primarily explore the banality of it. The dramas are largely incidental. To me, it was an welcome revision of her usual theme.
