Well if he actually knew what he was talking about before making such comments. A lot of the more recent horror film sequels have been getting ok to decent reviews and well received by their fans.

Shame. I think Sinister is an underrated gem in the horror genre. I didn\’t have high hopes for this film but i was hoping it would surprise me like the first one did. I don\’t know why the bad-horror sequel trend continues to be the rule.

I liked Sinister but personally found a lot of the praise heaped onto it undeserved. A lot of it I attribute to the fact that horror films like it just often get pushed out of the spotlight due to the running fad and focus on torture shows and the like, so when something that doesn\’t go that route pops up it\’s easy to get enthralled by it and overlook its flaws in favor of saying "this is a breath of fresh air". If any of these points are spot on about the sequel, this only reaffirms what I felt was weak in the first film (but was willing to accept in the vain hope that it\’d be a one and done film – and it certainly ended in such a fashion).
