I agree with \'Someone\'

The reviewer of this film needs to get his head out of his ass.

This is an excellent and smart blockbuster movie of the year. The kind of mindset or expectation for The Criterion Collection kind of movie should be left at home when purchasing a ticket for a summer movie.

I enjoyed this film tremendously and i think Andy Serkis\' performance deserves nomination this coming award season. He\'s long overdue.

There are several points in this review that made me think the reviewer was not actually paying attention and was perhaps texting on a cell phone during the movie while looking briefly every 10 minutes for something to moan about in his high-brow review. Two examples:

\"The Golden Gate Bridge is the end-game, though it’s never explained what sort of tactical target the bridge represents\"
Apparenly the reviewer missed the way Caesar gazed with wonder the first time he was taken over this bridge to the redwood forest...the way Caesar came to regard that forest as the single place he was able to be free, himself, and at home...and the way the script offered a hand-holding reminder in the midst of the action scene, just in case someone like the reviewer wasn\'t paying attention, in the form of Caesar\'s \"parents\" exclaiming \"he\'s heading for the redwood forest\"? Does it not make sense that that\'s really the only place Caesar can conceive to run away to -- the place he would rather be -- and the bridge is the only way he knows to get there?

\",,,there are moments where it feels as if the minds behind “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” haven’t even studied reasonable ape behavior. Scenes with Caesar himself, especially clothed, make the leader of the pack seem more like a hunched-over, mutated human.\"
Again, what? That\'s kind of the point. He was raised entirely among humans, with an intellect approaching that of his peers. Just like any human child he mimics his role models & peers. He wasn\'t ape, he wasn\'t human, he was something in-between...and his movements were surely intentionally designed to convey that (and it makes sense in the context of the story).

\"The shocker twist in the original film, which has since informed the following entries, was that apes didn’t seize the Earth, but merely inherited it from a self-destructive, warring species destined to fall on their sword.\"

Uh, no. The shocker twist of the original film was that the planet of the apes was actually Earth, not some bizarro other world. How the apes took over was not explained.
