I was personally not very sold on Winslet's character. Regardless of the novel's depiction of a wife in the 50s, she comes off as spontaneous, an action character, yet remains ever-faithful to her husband. At the same time she says, "this is what we need, this is good for us," she also relays defeat to a husband who is all too modern and caring. Why would such a woman be so absolutely lame? Dicaprio's character grows and arcs in beautiful progression, but I feel Winslet's acting still could never save the active, yet neurotic, weak, and confusing character she was prescribed. I went in with high expectations and was let down.

Just watched a clip from the new movie Revolutionary Road, and it looks like it should be pretty cool. I’ve been a huge fan of director Sam Mendes for some time now, and it’s good to see Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio share the screen again! The movie opens on Dec. 26, and you can find the clip here:<BR/>http://www.viddler.com/explore/soulblade08/videos/44/

I had my wife read the novel while I read The Road, in preparation for the films (yea, I got screwed out of my film, I know), and she didn't seem to think it was all that much. I'd probe her for details to which she just reply, "not much is happening." But of course the Twilight series she loved, and is now dragging me to that this Sat. God help me.
