After Justified ended this year. I was hoping season 2 of True Detective would continue to fill void of smart crime dramas. Alas season 2 suffers from Nic Pizzolato ego. Thankfully Banshee on Cinemax is returning for a fourth season in 2016.

Best review I have read. You said everything I was feeling. Especially re: Vaughn\’s character – I keep thinking who talks like that and am not really sure what he is doing/ how he connects to the story. I have to read the reviews after the show because I am never sure if I missed something since TD is all over the place.

why not get someone to write about the show that likes it? this writer has zero insight into anything. all she ever does is write snarky criticisms of things that arent PC. its embarrassing for the Playlist.

I wish season 2 had a playful character like Woody Harrelson from season 1. All the characters in season 2 are so stiff and dull. Everyone is either depressed or angry. Like, are those the only emotions we\’ll see in season 2? Very little dynamic in the characters makes it hard to connect with them.

Quinn, I agree. It\’s not perfect, but it\’s still better than most shows on TV. I\’ve found it compelling so far. My problem with the critics giving it a hard time is not that they don\’t like it, but that the reviews have a sense that it was decided before the season even started that they wouldn\’t like it. The complaints are mostly vague and many of those writing about it seem more interested in finding cute ways to be snarky than giving the show any sort of meaningful analysis. And I keep reading that audiences are now just watching to see "how awful it will get" as if that\’s somehow a consensus.

I wish the semi-pro season 2 critics would start offering up more critical thought as opposed to the lazy-minded, tear it all down hack jobs most are slinging around.The show has some faults but it is still one of the most watchable,entertaining and engaging shows on TV.

I think it\’s a cult but it is not recognised by Catholic Church. In Wikipedia there\’s a good amount of info about it. Crimes in LA and are mentioned too. And True Detective…XD.

it\’s a prayer to Santa Muerte, the mexican patron saint of death. she\’s more of a folk belief dating wayyy back. it\’s not really a cult as they aren\’t really organized, but for tv purposes, i guess it can be viewed as such. i think Dexter had a season with it.

Just a comment, when the mexican guy dies at the end of the gunfight, he says an important sentence, i don\’t remember very well but it´s like "I go with you Death". Between some mexican people there\’s a cult of the Death, it`s called the Holy Death, whose idol is a virgin with a Crown and a skull-face. When Velcoro goes to Caspere´s mansion in the first episode, he sees this idol near Caspere´s desk. I am sure that the murder is caused by a kind of cult like in the first season. It´s only an opinión…google "Holy Death"
