I had such high hopes for this and love musicals, but sadly, your review is spot on. Marion Cotillard is truly mesmerizing. You feel her pain, and she steals the movie — and that's coming from one of the biggest DD-L fans around.

I'm also getting more and more worried that Precious is going to win the Oscar. Though there is some really inspirational (partly very manipulative) stuff in Invictus that the Academy might love even though it's not an amazing movie. It's hard to say.

This looks abso-fucking-lutely awful!!!!!!!!
Day-Lewis is one of the most over rated actors out there, he brings the same shtick to every role he plays, over the top dramatics, stare-y eyes and oh so quiet but wait im also oh so loud listen to me SCREAM!!!!!
and judi dench should just retire already...christ!
and Fergi...what the fuck?!?
and Cruz is certainly stretching herself with another sexkitteny fiery passionate role...give it up, we get it, your hot, now go challenge yourself...
the only positive thing about this has to be Marion Cotillard.

You mentioned There Will be Blood when speaking of Daniel Day-Lewis. Do you think the reason his character felt…slight to you, is because of the tenacity and hamming-it-up he was able to do as Daniel Plainview? Or was the character just that trim and fit.
