Wow, what a waste of celluloid. DeNiro is pretty good as the US Army retired Colonel who can't face his war-time demons or his son, from a broken marriage. But Travolta is as wooden as he's ever been, in a preposterous beard and lamentable accent. Exposition is sadly lacking in this supposed action film, which is understandable, but some explanation is necessary. How does Travolta come to the US sporting all these weapons..? Did he bring them on the plane from Bosnia, or did he buy them when he arrived in the US..? Why isn't DeNiro suspicious of this person suddenly appearing out of nowhere near his cabin in the woods..? Why does DeNiro torture Travolta after getting the upper hand on him, especially after threatening DeNiro's family, except as a plot device..? The topsy-turvy plot twists reach the ridiculous when the combatants finally tumble down a mountainside in the Colonel's jeep with neither one the worse for wear.
