Jig, is a documentary about Irish Dancing, and not a political statement. It would be an 8 part series if it was going to go into such depths of information. This is just an insight into the dedication, the passion, the love, the commitment these kids make on their own all for the love of dance. It shows us the fact that you don\'t have to be Irish, or have any Irish blood in you to feel that passion. One fantastic movie, these kids are so talented, and the hair stood up on my neck for most of it. 10/10 a must watch!!!

\"Jig\". Well, nothing seems explored, including the author\'s political comment. The conflict in Ireland was and still is the conflict between Ireland and Britain, the north of Ireland being one of the last colonies of the empire.

I do agree about the \"beauty queen\" aspect of the competitions, indeed, the little girls done up in wigs and makeup are made to look \"unwholesome\".

The movie obviously didn\'t do enough explaining if it\'s not even clear that it\'s called \"Irish dancing\" and not \"Irish line dancing\". Plan on seeing it anyway out of curiosity!
