You are dead on with this review. I loved the first 90 minutes, then the movie just became drawn out. I couldn\’t wait for it to end.

"Sondheim\’s story" whaaa? The story was constructed, and the show\’s book written, by James Lapine. Sondheim wrote the songs. This seems like a rather… large error for a professional critic to make.

So, just so I understand you, you do not like the movie because of its tonal shift into "darker and…somber" adult themes but your favorite part by far is Meryl Streep\’s "wrenching" song about the selfishness of parenthood. Me thinks your review has some strange tonal shifts of its own.
