I actually studied this case in one of my pre-law classes and hearing about the details of it were a real eye-opener. You\’re right too, it\’s been one of those things people refer to when breaking down the ridiculousness of our justice system. Hopefully, enough people watched this all the way through, because it\’s becoming quite exhausting dismantling all those poorly informed arguments.

Tort Reform is a legal weapon used in Texas against Texans.

When there are laws on the books preventing the common man from getting accountability, no telling what will happen.

Great write up. I saw the movie tonight and thought it was a very insightful and well put together piece that calls for action. I was so angry watching it.

FYI Jamie Leigh Jones is in trial right now in Houston. She is finally getting her day in Court against Halliburton. The media, however, is providing very little coverage. Regardless of the outcome, Jamie is so courageous to have fought for right to a trial by jury. We must protect this very precious constitutional right that levels the playing field for all.

I agree. One of the best articles I\’ve ever seen here. I continue to be impressed with the writing of many of the staff. The snarky articles catch the most attention, but pieces like this are a credit to the site.

This is one of the best reviews I\’ve read on the site. Informative and well written. The hot coffee case is a perfect example of how the media in America is influenced to spin stories in favor of major corporations. It was the topic of feigned outrage at every office water cooler for months. Not once did I hear who the defendant was or the age of the person. Truth be told the only thing I remember is the onslaught of Jay Leno punchlines. I am saddened to hear that the woman in the Halliburton rape case has not been rewarded anything. And I am absolutely horrified that I have not heard about her case in the news in months if not longer. If the woman allegedly murdered her baby five years ago we\’d have no shortage of trial updates.
