The line "The movie might as well be about the animals being stalked" really made me laugh. Anyway, in regard to the rebellious teen character, it's a shame that the film used a CHARACTER as a mere plot device rather than a tool to dissect an incredibly intricate, delicate relationship. I haven't seen the film, but, based on your interpretation, nothing makes me angrier than a film using the 'rebellious teen' stock character for the hell of it. This leads to everyone thinking that there is little point to a teen's 'rebellion'. To me, this is either lazy acting or lazy writing(on the script writer's part). Why is this kid more interested in playing with her iPad than hanging out with her dad? Why is she lying to everyone? Maybe she feels as though she's been lied to her entire life, or even manipulated, so she's trying to do the same to her parents? As someone who's a little too honest sometimes, where's the truth in her lies? There's always a reason for a rebellion, and the dots to this little tale just seem poorly connected, especially in terms of that particular character, who holds so much to work with.

This is why I'd rather see Dorff do more character-driven supporting work rather than taking bland roles in low-budget films. Although he was barely given a minute of screen time in Michael Mann's "Public Enemies," for example, that kind of gritty role was right on the money for his street-smart, "wily" type.
