Hey, I went to college in the 1960s, and I loved this film. Hartley is a French filmmaker from America! Hartley touches the absurdist in those of us who grew up at a time when Theater of the Absurd presaged today's disconnected cell phone "conversations" in close public proximity. It might be difficult for someone with a cell phone to understand that irony fifty years later. Perhaps someone should restage Ionesco's The Chairs and give the characters cell phones?

Also, those of us who saw Amateur will appreciate the end of Meanwhile a bit more for how it resolves itself. "I'll live." Thanks for the review!
