Hey, people are usually meanies so I don\'t check this very often. Not sure if this will find you. Not sure about the distribution, but it\'s a tough film so I can only assume it traveled the festival circuit slowly and wooed those who gave it a chance. I\'m just assuming here, but I know the circuit can be tough when you have a film with no big names or buzz, and for a documentary like this it\'s probably more difficult. The title is Robert E. Lee\'s letter than more-or-less was a surrender during the civil war. Persons I\'m not sure, but as for \"Tree of Life,\" no I don\'t. I think the Malick comparisons are a bitch of a stretch -- what, \"GENo9\" employs voice over and shots of nature and that\'s square enough to pull comparison? I don\'t think so, plus, Malick has been pushing his own style and \"Tree of Life\" is just the latest stage in that. He was always moving towards it, and depending on how you feel about the movie, it\'s either off the edge or perfection.

Well written overview - here are a few things I\'m curious about not covered in the article--
**General Orders No. 9 is earmarked as a 2009 film but is now in special release on the art circuit - did it have a botched release a few years ago and is being rediscovered? Or, has it taken this long to break through into the marketplace?
**The title could be commented on for those who have not seen the complete work **What did Persons do before this - what\'s his background?
**Do you think this film actually influenced the concept and execution of TREE OF LIFE? Thx, B. Shaw
