He obviously didn't deserve to be shot to death while being restrained, so I don't think we need a bunch of "look at what a great person he was – he's a wonderful dad, a loving boyfriend, son, brother, a lover of stray dogs and strangers looking for fish at the grocery store" to feel the humanity and injustice of the situation.

To be completely honest, I felt more empathy watching the cell phone video of the incident than the rest of the film. Still, some beautiful performances and a solid debut for a filmmaker.
