Holy shit, I hated this. Insightful script?? Wow. This is like a Made for TV disaster. D-grade for sure.

I somewhat agree with Travis. It starts out great but by the last half hour, it really falls apart. The last scene *SPOILER ALERT* ruins what could have been a pretty insightful and heartfelt film. I also wish there was a little more insight into the other relationships considering the title is "FRIENDS with Kids" not "SEGMENTS OF OUR FRIENDS with Kids."

While I agree it gets a little conventional and sitcommy for awhile, the script is more insightful and sharp enough that it never becomes a drag. She makes smart use of her cast, with the possible exception of Wiig, and even uses Megan Fox in a role that doesn't just have her playing the sexpot. I think this is one of the best movies we've seen so far in the early part of the year, and hopefully means we'll see more from Westfeldt in the future. I interviewed her the other day and tried to convince her to do a Kissing Jessica Stein follow-up, and she didn't seem totally against the idea.
