I was very disappointed with this film because I am a massive fan of Cameron Crowe's classic Films ( except for Elizabethtown ). We Brought A Zoo has horrid pacing, excessive sentimentality , and the heavy-handed film music is unbearable. The film has too many sugary cliches, and the scene when Matt Damon's character takes his kids to the restaurant where he first met his wife could give you tooth decay. I am surprised Playlist gave this film a good grade.

P.S. I felt Elle Fanning was one-note. Her sweetness is very cloying , and their is little depth to her acting.

"People Aren't Going To Pay To See Fat Damon"......That's what the title of this article should of been! I love Cameron Crowe, but after Vanilla Sky I've been skeptical of his film choices.....and I must be one of five or six people worldwide who will actually admit to liking Elizabethtown. I'm Fine.

It was just OK. It was largely indistinguishable from the other family movies whose trailers aired before it -- like the one about rescuing whales trapped in ice. Which is fine as far as family movies go. The formula works. But there is nothing in this film save for the bigger names that justifies the attention/anticipation accorded it.

I had expected this to be far worse so I was pleasantly surprised that it all works but still hoped for more out of Crowe.

Moviefan, are you a real person?

Saw the movie last night. Attended with my entire family (range of ages 14 to 23). We all loved the movie. Story telling and acting it's very best...no reliance on violence, sex or profanity. The actors, especially Damon, Fanning, and the little girl playing Rosie were superb. Have tissue ready fir the scene in which Rosie (the little girl) is feeding the peacocks.

I read the book and loved it so I had high expectations for this movie. I was concerned it would fall short; however, to my surprise and great enjoyment, it far exceeded all expectation. Damon was amazing and this movie showcases his raw talent as an actor, as he has to play a grief stricken father with little else to rely on but raw emotion. He nailed it. I think this is his best performance ever. Liked the chemistry between Damon and ScarJo too (was not sure how that was going to work). Rosie, the little girl, will steal your heart. Elle McFanning was amazing too.

Highly recommend this movie.

People aren't going to pay to see Fat Damon. They want super-hunk Damon, not a two hour eye sore and the audience muttering comments on how "He really let himself go." or "Man, he's aging horribly." Has the Russell Crowe experiment taught Hollywood nothing?! The box office tanks right along with their looks.
